Cottage vacations

Hello Everyone, Bob Saget, of Full House fame, had a good line in his standup routine, where he wondered where people who live in Hawaii go on vacation. "Delaware?" It's a good punchline, especially if you're from the First State. (I had to look that up.) For health reasons that didn't actually start with the pandemic, Emilie and I have been living in a series of cottages since everything went to hell. We were at our family cottage on a Sunday night in March when I got the call to not come into work the next day. Since then, we've stayed at her uncle's cottage, back to the family cottage, and now we are renting the cottage next door to the family cottage. It's been a journey. Now that it's summertime, it's also vacation time. Last year we went to the New England coast. Beautiful area, but getting there would be tricky with the border closed. (On account of more Covid cases every day in the US, it seems, than there are people in Saskatchewan, but I digress.) Where do you go on vacation when you live in a cottage? Very sensibly, you go to a different cottage, further away. Without potable water. But a bigger lake. As silly as it sounds, it's been great. Really, what you need for a vacation is a change of scenery, even if you are trading one lake for another, and few responsibilities. So far, we're batting 1,000. Also, you need pie for breakfast. I've done a lot of reading, gone biking a couple of times, slept in, and mostly stayed off my phone. Life is good. Wes Photos Guess who's still got it as a trail dog? We did about 8k at Mont Ste Marie, which is about half of what we did every day when we were on the road, but Arthur was great. No limping afterwards either. A nice smiling selfie. A nice flower shot.
A pic of our neighbor at the current cottage.
